DESIGNING FUTURES AS REQUIRED
Views on design-led innovation, social research & method, and systemic design. Welcoming your ideas & responses @redesign
While we pretend to be postmodern, our era has become dominated by totalizing systems - networks and sociotechnical - and their media narratives. As societies we have failed to reform the things that matter, and yet we constantly argue for a "system change" that few can agree upon. Our postmodern irony is a protection racket we can no longer afford. We have to redesign the world together.
Together we have to learn how to shape a preferred reality and future experience.
We can reach agreement on desired transformations, and we have to try for solidarity and trust. We can challenge our economic models, our modes of innovation, and restore the human storehouse of ancient and scholarly wisdom to inform a new ethos.
Collaboration is not enough - We require cultures of co-innovation, collectively deciding, & socially organizing. That's the aim behind Design with Dialogue.
Art, science, and design are different ways of knowing and have their own modes of existence. In the arenas of action - business, community, and society - these regenerate each other. All ways of knowing are invited to the dance of change, if we are to interfere and reinvent our values and systems to open these possibilities. Your participation is requested, and required.
